Parking Spot Painting

Williamsport Area High School is excited to welcome WAHS seniors to paint their parking spots!  We encourage students to express themselves through positive artwork, to enhance the campus, to build school spirit, to create a tradition and support Senior Class activities and events.  Painting parking spots is a privilege. Non-Painted parking spaces will continue to be available for senior students who do not wish to decorate a parking spot.

IMPORTANT: To paint a parking spot, students must turn in the attached form, have a valid driver’s license, current proof of insurance, and current registration.

Requirements

  1. Only WAHS seniors may paint reserved parking spots. Students will need to have a parking pass prior to painting their spot. Passes for the 2024-25 school year will be available for completion at the security office.
  2. Students and their parents/guardian(s) will sign a contract to agree to all guidelines and rules.
  3. Students must have cleared any financial obligations debts prior to creating a personal parking spot.
  4. Students will place the parking hang tag on their rear-view mirror.
  5. Students must paint the assigned spot in either A Lot or B Lot.
  6. The WAHS administrators will oversee the students on the painting day Wednesday, August 21, 2024, 8am-3pm. Rain Date: Saturday, August 24, 2024.
  7. Students must only paint in their spot.
  8. Students must get their paint checked by WAHS Administration before beginning.
  9. All painting must be completed on the designated painting day(s).
  10. Each spot that has been assigned will be chalked with a 6” border.
  11. A water hose and trash can will be provided for cleanup in the parking lot.

Parking Spot Design Proposal

  1. Students will submit their drawn proposal of the parking space designs (including colors) to the Main Office by Friday, August 16, 2024. Paper submissions are required. NO DIGITAL submissions.
  2. Any questionable designs will be discussed and evaluated.
  3. Variation from the approved design proposal will result in the design being removed.
  4. A copy of the design proposal will be kept on file with the student’s parking permit information.
  5. Senior parking design request proposal sheet must be done in color and must represent exactly what will be painted on your parking space to be accepted.

Guidelines for painting

  1. The student’s name is the ONLY name/initial that will be allowed to be painted on the spot. (NO boyfriend’s/girlfriend’s/siblings/friends)
  2. All designs must be painted within the 6” border of the designated paint area of the parking spot.There will also be a 3” border around the number.
  3. Students must use a water-based latex exterior paint.
  4. Students MUST purchase their own paint and supplies - this includes bowls and brushes
    1. Lowes, Sherwin Williams, Ace Hardware, Dollar Tree, Target, Hobby Lobby or Walmart for paint supplies
  5. Sharing colors with peers is encouraged
  6. Students will not use “Striping Paint” or any other “Raised” paint or Roofing Tar - it either peels up or is difficult to paint over next year.
  7. NO spray paint, glitter or textured paint
  8. Students will NOT cover WHITE painted parking lines.
  9. Taking off the paint
    1. The Senior Student will be responsible for repainting the spot, on Wednesday, June 5, 2025 from 11:00 – 4:30.
    2. Any student who does not paint their spot will receive a $100 fee and will be unable to receive their diploma until the spot is painted or they pay the fee.

Discipline

  1. Any Williamsport Area High School student who paints a parking spot without permission or vandalizes a senior parking spot will lose their parking privileges and face disciplinary action and consequences.
  2. The upkeep of the space is the responsibility of the student. If for some reason the space needs to be repainted (because of graffiti or other reasons), the student must speak with a school administrator immediately.
  3. If a student withdraws/removed from school due to disciplinary actions during the school year, the reserved parking spot will be painted over with black
    water-based latex exterior paint.
