WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (JANUARY 19, 2022) — The Williamsport Area School District Education Foundation (WASDEF) is pleased to announce Larson Design Group (LDG) as its returning corporate partner in its 2022 employee giving campaign.
The campaign, which launched today, encourages WASD employees to consider enrolling in an ongoing payroll deduction program or make a one-time contribution to support the district’s nonprofit affiliate.
LDG has once again agreed to match up to $5,000 on any new or increased annual pledge made through the payroll deduction program between now and Feb. 17.
“LDG is pleased to continue its support for the WASDEF and enhanced opportunities for students in the community,” said President and CEO Dave Martin. “This investment in our students will help to create the architects, engineers, and technical professionals needed tomorrow for the success of LDG and the city of Williamsport.”
“We’re extremely grateful for LDG’s continued commitment to the campaign this year,” said WASDEF Executive Director Greg Hayes. “Their generosity will allow us to double nearly every new and increased pledge our employees make through our payroll deduction program. Ultimately, these collective contributions increase the foundation’s granting power when it comes to reinvesting these dollars in our schools to provide new and enhanced learning opportunities for students.”
Last school year, the foundation’s employee giving campaign raised $6,926 in new and increased commitments. Total contributions received by the foundation through its payroll program at the end of last school year amounted to $9,361, representing a 38% increase in annual contributions from the previous year.
District employees who enroll in the program can choose to support the foundation’s Annual Fund, Teacher Mini-Grant Program Fund, or both.
“We like to say it’s one of the easiest ways to give, and we’ve been very pleased and grateful for the response we’ve gotten,” Hayes said. “A small bi-weekly contribution deducted from each paycheck, at a $1 minimum, can add up to make a huge difference within the larger volume of support.”
Last year, WASDEF generated $198,279 in total revenue, and granted $373,689 to support district programs, projects and scholarships.
Over the last decade, WASDEF has granted more than $3 million to the school district to help fund capital projects, innovative programs and initiatives, and scholarships to graduating seniors. In that same period of time, the foundation’s market value also has grown by more than $1 million.
Founded in 2004, WASDEF is the recognized nonprofit affiliate of the Williamsport Area School District. The education foundation facilitates charitable giving and permanent legacies based on individual areas of interest in educational innovation, the arts, athletics and scholarships.
