District Wide

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (FEBRUARY 10, 2021) — Schools across the Williamsport Area School District have entered into a month-long and aptly named “Share the (Millionaire) Love” campaign in an effort to promote the impact of daily small acts of kindness and compassion.
Headed up by the district’s team of school social workers and psychologists, the “hope is to build a stronger sense of community,” according to Heather Way, a social worker at Williamsport Area High School.
"We are looking forward to seeing the impact that can be made when everyone joins in the challenge of doing one small act of kindness daily,” Way said. “Choosing kindness is not costly, yet the impact can be significant, especially when everyone gets on board.”
The campaign coordinators have invited each school in the district to participate, encouraging them to take photos and videos of activities central to the campaign’s theme so that they can be compiled and arranged to publicly share with the community.
“Share the (Millionaire) Love” is an expanded follow up to last year’s “You Are One in a Million(aire)” effort at WAHS, which was conducted in January 2020 as part of Mental Health Awareness Week. It allowed students to celebrate the unique qualities and characteristics each of them has that contribute to the school in a positive way. It became more prominently promoted on social media in March as a way to virtually bring all students and staff together after the pandemic forced school closures.
