Introduction to Homeland Security (9700X)

This course offers instruction in the basic components of the homeland security industry. This includes: emergency
services, fire protection, and criminal justice specific to emergency and disaster situations.

L1 Homeland Security (97110)

This is the first in a series of three-year courses for the Homeland Security Career and Technology Education
program. L1 Homeland Security will teach Law Enforcement techniques that are used when responding to emergency
calls, conducting traffic stops, and performing crime scene investigations. Physical development and self- confidence
skills are emphasized due to the nature of the specific occupation(s). In addition to the application of mathematics,
communication, science and physics, students receive training in social and psychological skills, map reading, vehicle
and equipment operations, the judicial system, pre-hospital emergency medical care and communications. This program
prepares students to apply technical knowledge and skills required to perform entry-level duties in law enforcement and
private security.

L2 Homeland Security (97130)

This is the second in a series of three-year courses for the Homeland Security Career and Technology Education
program. This program stresses the techniques, methods, and procedures specific to the area
of Emergency Services. Physical development and self-confidence skills are emphasized due to the nature of the
specific occupation(s). In addition to the application of mathematics, communication, science and physics, students
receive training in social and psychological skills, map reading, vehicle and equipment operations, pre-hospital
emergency medical care and appropriate emergency assessment, treatment and communication. This program prepares
students to apply technical knowledge and skills required to perform entry-level duties in emergency medical services
and obtaining an emergency medical technician certificate and other safety services.

L3 Homeland Security (97140)

This is the third in a series of three-year courses for the Homeland Security Career and Technology Education program.
This program stressed the techniques, methods, and procedures specific to the area of Firefighting. Physical development
and self-confidence skills are emphasized due to the nature of the specific occupation(s). In addition to the application of
mathematics, communication, science and physics, students receive training in social and psychological skills, map
reading, vehicle, and equipment operations, communication, and the fundamentals of firefighting. This program prepares
students to apply technical knowledge and skills required to perform entry-level duties in the fundamentals of essentials
of firefighting.
