Two WAHS students were recently earned Scholastic Art Awards, the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious art and writing recognition program for students in grades seven through 12.

Six WAHS students have reached the highest level a high school musician can achieve by earning a place in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) All-State Festival music ensembles.

In a continued effort to help slow the community spread of COVID-19, the Williamsport Area School District will remain in full remote learning through Jan. 8.

WAHS senior Michael Fisher will virtually compete as a division finalist in the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Eastern Division Senior String Performance. Fisher secured his spot after his recent win in the Pennsylvania State Senior String Competition.

The WASD Education Foundation recently awarded two grants totaling $4,379 to support programs at both Williamsport Area Middle School and Williamsport Area High School.

Thanks to a donation made by the district's insurance firm, a group of students in need will receive a free coat to wear this winter. The coats, donated as part of the firm's Coats 4 Kids Drive, will be given to identified high school students in need.
