WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (APRIL 22, 2024) — Two Williamsport Area High School students recently earned Scholastic Art Awards, the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious art and writing recognition program for students in grades seven through 12.

Seniors Jack Klingler and Kathryn Niklaus received Gold Key and Silver Key awards, respectively, for their submitted work. Klingler also was selected as one of five Gold Key Award recipients to be named an American Vision Nominee, advancing him to the national competition to be considered for the American Vision Awards.

Klingler was recognized in the Drawing & Illustration category for his piece “Independence.” Niklaus was recognized in the Painting category for submission of “Shoes of America.”

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards was established in 1923. The Everhart Museum has hosted the competition for the Northeastern Pennsylvania Region since 2018. This year, the museum received more than 400 submissions of artwork from junior and senior high school students from 40 schools within a 15-county area.
