Students Honor School Board Members as Part of National School Director Recognition Month

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (JANUARY 10, 2024) — In recognition of Williamsport Area School Board members, students from across the district honored them for their service by presenting them with a brand-new book for installation in their respective school libraries. Each of the books is dedicated to the individual board member with a nameplate on the inside cover.

The annual ceremony is done as part of January's National School Director Recognition Month.

We thank all our board members for their time, dedication and service to the WASD!

Cochran Primary School

  • Joseph “JJ” Piktel presented Barbara Reeves with “A Small Kindness” by Stacy McAnulty.
    Haven Lorson presented Jamie Sanders with “Go-Go Guys” by Rowboat Watkins.
  • Jayceon Green presented Tom Adams with “100 Mighty Dragons All Named Broccoli” by David Larochelle.

Hepburn-Lycoming Primary School

  • Violet Saunders presented Scott Williams with “The Smart Cookie” by Jory John.
  • Ava Fisher presented Michele Hazel with “B is for Bedtime Bananas” by Carrie Tillotson.
  • Jackson Harner presented Adam Welteroth with “Big Shark, Little Shark Go to School” by Anna Membrino.

Jackson Primary School

  • Geyceon Whaley presented Michelle Deavor with “When You Are Brave” by Pat Zietlow Miller.
  • Nyod Watkins presented Cody Derr with “Bitsy Bat, School Star” by Kaz Windness.
  • Jeremiah Flook presented Lori Baer with “The Girl Who Could Fix Anything” by Mara Rockliff.

Curtin Intermediate School
