  • Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture Visits, Reads at Jackson

    MARCH 21, 2017 — Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding stopped by Jackson Primary School today. Secretary Redding read the book "Before We Eat: Farm to Table," by Pat Brisson and Mary Azarian, which also was donated to the school's library.

  • WAHS Musical, 'Hairspray', Hits the Stage

    MARCH 18, 2017 — The WAHS music department presented Broadway's "Hairspray" in two performances on March 17 and 18. Starring WAHS's Lindsey Taylor as Tracy Turnblad, the play is set in 1962 Baltimore and follows "the lovable plus-size teen ... (as she pursues her) only one desire — to dance on the popular 'Corny Collins Show.'

  • WAHS Senior Earns 2017 Good Citizen Award

    MARCH 9, 2017 — WAHS senior Abigail Brooke Laver has earned the 2017 Good Citizen Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution. Laver recently won the award from the organization's local chapter based on an essay submission that centered on voting and the Civil Rights Movement. Her entry also earned her an honorable mention at the state level.

  • 2017-18 Kindergarten Registration Scheduled for March 27-31

    FEBRUARY 21, 2017 — The WASD's kindergarten and new student registration period for the 2017-18 school year is scheduled for March 27-31. All registrations will occur from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Enrollment Center at the Williamsport Area School District Service Center, 2780 West Fourth St.

  • WASD Summer String Camp to Return

    FEBRUARY 16, 2017 -- WASD will offer its four-day Summer String Camp to students of the district. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. beginning July 31 to Aug. 3 at Williamsport Area High School.

  • Harlem Wizards Event Raises $11,240 for WASD Education Foundation

    FEBRUARY 8, 2017 — The Harlem Wizards benefit basketball game hosted at Williamsport Area High School on Feb. 6 raised $11,240 for the WASD Education Foundation. More than 1,900 people attended the event.
